PERSONS

Filed under: Uncategorized — ben @ 12:12 pm

So i (ben) used to play in this band called PERSONS. not to sound arrogant, but we were really good. no one ever knew who we were though. the only record of us on the internet was just put up by our friend Dave, and he decided to make this strange video documenting our last show ever. check it out if you are really bored. this is what Dave wrote about it:

The best band to ever come out of Abington, PA, was a band called the Lain Meyers. They later streamlined the band and became “The Persons.” Pete Leonard, Steve Heise, and Ben Daniels all drank beer one time. they went on to make microtonal music, play in bands like Sunny Day in Glasgow, Rifle Nice, Dragon City, and 500 other bands.

I made this movie to skew and destroy the memory of The Persons and leave their only record on the internet as a ghosty slo-momemo-ry. Then I superimposed Jim Lewis lip-synching the rocky horror picture show in order to further corrupt the image.

Live from megan meginley’s apartment in west philly - 2003? special guests stars: all of the meginleys and some white kids dancing.

Slumberland “Searching for the Now” Split 7″ - released June 11, 2008
A: Sometimes I Think About You (A Sunny Day in Glasgow)
B: Pottery & Glass (The Sunny Street)

Our split 7″ from Slumberland Records is available NOW.  It’s limited to 600 copies, on white vinyl, and in a letterpress sleeve.  Very nice.  You can get it HERE for $4, but you can get Pains of Being Pure at Heart’s split 7″ as well for just another $3 ($7 total), so we recommend doing that.

June Shows & Other News

Filed under: News, Shows — ben @ 7:31 pm

We are playing this week and next at two fantastic shows!

June 6 - First Unitarian Church, Philadelphia with M83
June 13 - Soundcheck on WNYC, New York, live on the air at 230pm
June 13 - Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.  (Free show! starts early- 7pm)

In other news, the Slumberland and Graphic North 7″s have both been delayed due to manufacturing issues.  We hope to have the Slumberland 7″s by mid June and Geo North one by late June (maybe?).  As far as we know, the vinyl version of Scribble Mural Comic Journal is still on track for sometime in July…

…hopefully before we head to Europe for a bunch of shows over there!  The route is not yet finalized, but you can see the in progress version on the myspace page.   We’ll put it up here once it’s done.  This time we will be going over with the full band and we are really excited about that.  We’ll also have another 7″ just for the tour.  It will be a single of our song “Summerlong Silences” with a b-side re/mega-mix combination of “Best Summer Ever” and “Panic Attacks…” that doesn’t sound like either song but sounds awesome.   It was made by our drummer Josh who also makes music as The Fantastic Imagination.  We are releasing 4 records this year that are all on vinyl and we are reasonably certain we will have them all out by this July.

We’re also in the midst of recording lots n lots of demos we will hopefully record properly sometime this Fall once we find a big room/warehouse/church to record them in.  Right now we are calling the record Evil, With Evil, Against Evil, but that will probably change.  Some of the songs so far are called “Evil”, “Volume is Electricity”, “Nighttime Rainbows”, and “Dinosaurs”.   Those will probably change too, but it’s exciting to be recording lots of stuff again!  xoxo
