hello, this is my first post on the new website. i am working on a number of new projects at the moment, none of which are finished, but I wanted to get something of mine up on this new website. this is a painting i did several years ago. i gave it to a friend and then forgot about it. but my friend just moved to india so i took it back. as you can see, i don’t paint, but this was the first image i made with the clouds. i found a child’s chair in the trash and used the seat for the canvas, which was then mounted on to a long 2×4 that i had planned to cement into the ground on a street corner in west philly, so it would look like a bus stop. that never really happened…
ever

craziest shit ever! ever ever! so we played at Johnny Brenda’s tonight and it was a great show from what I recall. I was hanging out backstage with Colin from Remote Islands when we heard this loud explosion sounds. We looked out onto Frankford Ave. to see this TRACTOR-TRAILER SEMI MONSTER TRUCK thing careening down Frankford. Sadly, the band van was parked on this street and this truck rammed the car parked behind us and then dragged both of the cars about 100 feet before it broke free and continued down the street, hitting more cars. It’s crazy too, because it was going slow enough for me to run out of JB’s and catch up to it as it was dragging our van. I started jumping up and down, screaming at the guy “STOP THE TRUCK YOU CRAZY FUCK!!!” over and over, and he definitely made eye contact with me as he was dragging these cars. But yeah, eventually he stopped and ran for it. Totally insane. I’ve really never seen anything like that. It was kind of funny when the police got there and asked me if I had seen him. Then they pulled out the guy’s driver’s license and asked if he looked like that. We all laughed. Sigh…
But yeah, we drove the van home, no word if it’s totalled or not- dragging a parked car 100 feet or so can’t be good. Also, we can’t open the back to load equipment anymore. But we’ll get to the Union Hall next Saturday one way or another.
be safe everyone. and when your truck driving friends want to drive home after the bar, punch them in face or something.
grab ya face,
asdig

Mackenzie Astin? John Waters? Okay, so maybe running into John Waters can be somewhat expected when you’re out in Baltimore (He does live there, and goes out like people do), but it still makes you giddy. We ran into Mr. Waters, wearing a long scarf, at Club Charles after playing a fun show at the new Lo-Fi. I have to say, the man looks like you would expect, but it was nifty to see him face to face. While we thought this was cool, and maybe going to be the most notable part of our weekend adventures…we were way off.The following morning, we met up with a bunch of close friends to go to one of my favorite places for brunch. The food was great, hanging out with people I don’t see all that often was wonderful, but wait! Doesn’t our waiter look like that guy from that show? Did Mackenzie Astin just hand me my breakfast, and refill my coffee? His Dad does live in the city that reads, but really, he’s waiting on me? We all recognized him, but come on. We busted out the iPhone and looked at info (thanks to wikipedia for sealing the deal) only to make the confident decision that it was him. The Facts of Life, Iron Will, OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! This was the most notable part of the weekend. Thanks Mac.
the shows in Baltimore and DC were fantastic! i can’t believe how many people fit into the velvet lounge. and that show was terrific. you usually get to play with maybe 1 band on a bill that is really great but everyone was so awesome at that show! we also got to see A and B-list celebrities in Baltimore but I will let someone else in the band tell you about that. grab ya face…
